Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Om Ramanathan operates Real Temp on the web, iOS, and Android, and how information is used when you use these services.
Information we use
Without an account, your selected locations, settings, cached forecasts, setup choices, and agreement record are stored on your device or browser. If you create an account, Firebase processes your email address, account identifier, credentials, and profile information supplied by your chosen Google or Apple sign-in. Saved locations (including home or work labels), notification choices, units, appearance, clothing preferences, and dashboard layout can be saved to your account. Agreement records include the policy version, time, platform, and account identifier when signed in.
Location and weather
You can search for a place instead of granting device location access. If you choose current location and grant permission, Real Temp uses your coordinates to provide local weather and update your chosen location while you use the app. Searches and coordinates are sent to our weather service and relevant weather providers. Saved or alert locations may be stored locally and in your account. The app does not require background location permission.
Notifications
Notifications are optional and require your device permission. If enabled, an installation identifier, push token, selected alert locations, notification preferences, and delivery information are used to deliver alerts and reminders. Expo, Apple, and Google may process notification delivery information. Some reminders are scheduled locally on your device. You can change notification choices in Settings and revoke permission in your device settings.
Service providers and security
Google Firebase provides account sign-in, database storage, hosting, and backend services. Firebase App Check uses Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise on the web and platform attestation on supported mobile builds to protect weather requests against abuse. These services may process IP addresses, browser or device information, security signals, and identifiers. OpenWeather supplies weather and place search; Google supplies pollen information. Opening maps can send your IP address and map area to CARTO and unpkg on the web, or Apple or Google map services on mobile. These providers may process information on servers outside your country under their own terms and privacy policies.
Cookies, storage, and external links
Real Temp uses browser storage and mobile app storage for sign-in, selected preferences, cached content, security, and agreement records. This version has no optional analytics or advertising trackers in the app. Security and sign-in providers may use necessary cookies or similar storage. Our Cookie & Storage Notice explains this further. Product links may be Amazon affiliate links: we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases. Amazon and other sites you choose to visit use their own privacy and cookie practices; your agreement here does not consent to their optional tracking. Suggestions open an external Google Form.
Why information is used
We use information to deliver requested weather and account features, remember your choices, send notifications you enable, record agreement, respond to requests, and protect the service. Where data protection law requires a legal basis, processing needed to provide the requested service is based on performing our agreement; protecting the service is based on legitimate interests; optional device permissions and any future optional tracking require the appropriate separate choice. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect users and the service.
Retention and your choices
Account preferences and saved locations remain until you change them or delete your account. Delete account in Settings removes your sign-in and triggers deletion of the associated account documents, including agreement records. Device storage and separately stored notification delivery or security records are not all removed by account deletion; disable alerts before deleting your account, and clear browser data or app storage to remove local copies. Hosting, security, backup, and delivery records follow the applicable provider and service retention settings rather than an immediate deletion guarantee. We do not promise that all copies disappear instantly. Contact us to request access, correction, export, or deletion of information, or to ask about retention. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to object, restrict processing, or complain to a data protection authority. We may need to verify your identity.
Children and policy changes
Real Temp is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us to request removal. When this policy or the agreement version changes, the app will ask you to review the updated documents before continuing. Optional location and notification permissions remain separate from accepting the user agreement.
